This weekend we attended our first rodeo. Since we learned about U.S. Deputy Marshal Bass Reeves (and celebrated him earlier this year) we’ve been on a bit of a cowperson kick so when I heard about the Arizona Black Rodeo, we purchased our tickets, encouraged another family to roll, and spent a really fun three hours watching Black cowboys and cowgirls compete in all manner of horse competition. They even had a game for kids under 10 where they got to chase a cow and a Mutton Busting portion where little kids get to ride a bucking sheep!
I wasn’t sure what to expect but it was really fun. There were a few food booths, the music (primarily hip hop with some old school sprinkled in) was good, the announcers were funny, and the competition was fierce! There was even a group of line dancers that got up and danced to “I Need Money” during the barrel racing! It was definitely a party. Lol
